Athos the book character (The Three Musketeers), has a mysterious past connecting him with the villainess of the novel. Athos the dog we are talking about, would never be connected with a villainess - he's too happy and friendly for that!
Lots of little dogs are not suitable around toddlers - they all have to be watched, of course, but we think Athos and his brother Porthos will be OK since they are friendly, easy and independent dogs who don't worry about who has a toy or who is next to their food bowl. Athos might even be calm enough for a two year old - as long as the two year old isn't rough and is always with an adult.
When Athos had his cat test, he really wanted to play with the cat - he must have recognized that he and the cat were about the same size and they might be pals.
This friendly boy likes a good lap with a good person who will give him good, gentle strokes on his back - it just feels so good! All warm and loving.
Athos is pretty good on leash, but would do well with basic obedience to really bond with his new family. He'd be good in a puppy class - he likes strangers and is good with dogs his own size.
Athos and his brother look pretty much alike, at first glance. You can tell Athos by the white stripe that runs from the top of his nose, right over the top of his head.
Hey! If you are not a villian or villianess, Athos might be just right for you. Come to K-9 PALS at the County shelter and see if you are just right for this little musketeer. Athos is waiting. |
