Bonnie
Rottweiler mix
Sex: spayed female
Age: 3.5 years old
Size: 50 lbs.
Bonnie came into the shelter with her brother when they were only 6 months old after being abandoned in August of 2007. After her brother was adopted, it was very hard on her. She got a new kennel mate, Oso, and they lived together until Oso left to live with his foster dad in October 2009. Bonnie has adapted well to the shelter environment. She is a volunteer-favorite and loves her time at off-site outings or just cuddling on the bench in the visitor's garden

She loves woozles and getting her belly rubbed, once she knows and trusts you, but will need lots of socialization and firm guidance to become comfortable around strangers. She deserves to have the wonderful experience of being in a home environment, napping on a couch, watching TV and sniffing the smell of food being cooked in the kitchen.

She has been on several outings with the volunteers and other shelter dogs and she seems to enjoy the company, the walks, the grass and ocean. She also does well on car rides and would enjoy going along for errands. Bonnie enjoys her car rides a lot, especially when she can ride shot-gun and gaze out the window.

Many things luckier dogs take for granted are all brand new experiences to her. Though she doesn’t take surprises very well due to her insecurity from a rough puppyhood, with the right person and proper training, she can learn to trust her family to keep her safe and secure.

At first look, she may not be the perfect dog for just anyone, but she can be a special dog for a special someone who will treat her with the respect and love she deserves. She can be strong willed so would do well with assertive, calm owners who will be her pack leaders and happy companions. Are you special enough for Bonnie?
